The first goal when we all wake up is to have the best day possible. Sometimes this gets messed up before we even get started. We sleep through alarm clocks and are late so we are rushing the whole day. We just don’t feel right and our body is off or we sleep in the wrong position and now we aches and pains that we have to workout to try to feel better. Possibly you just didn’t have a good night sleep or enough sleep because you went to bed later than you expected.
There is a long list of reasons why many of our days don’t start off ideal which more often than not slips into us not being able to have the most productive day. I guess in a perfect world we would all wake up like the prince in the movies Coming to America. Beautiful spacious bed, perfect temperature setting in the room, just the right amount of sunlight. Laying in the perfect position with the best pillow and gently waking up to a symphony. Well this isn’t the reality for 99.9% of us in the world and definitely not the people reading this blog.
But how do you make everyday the best day possible? You do some research, play around with a few ideas and construct a regimen that works for you. As an athlete we always talk about warming up and being a our peak so we can perform. That is the same for everyone else living life as well. If you start your day in ways that put you in the best possible light you will have less stress, a clearer mind and a more joyful heart. With those three components your will be a better employee, parent, partner and person all around.
The first thing I do when I wake up every day is go and sit in my Human Touch Super Novo masage chair for twenty minutes. If you look they tell you that everyday first thing you should meditate. No better place to do than your chair! I don’t your the same setting every morning but I do a 20 min session and I always use the heat option.
During this time I mentally go over the thoughts and key points of what i would like to do that day. I try to visualize and anticipate things that may happen that day and ways to proactively deal with adversity. I also envision the success that i would like to see on that day. Many times while I’m in the chair i do drills and allow my mind to take over my body and talk to my muscles and tell them what needs to trigger without actually doing the motions fully. This gets my body ready to move, my muscles get the gentle wake up that then need so I can be at my best.
I totally understand that everyday it’s going to be perfect but if you take the to find a regimen that works for you and stick to it you will have more good days than bad. Thank you for checking into the recovery corner and I hope this was helpful to you in your wellness journey.

More than 39 million Americans live with migraines, according to the American Migraine Foundation. Across the world, one billion people suffer from migraine disease.
If you’re one of the millions battling migraines, you know how challenging it can be to find relief. You may have heard that massage therapy can help with headache pain, but is this true? Can a massage help with migraines?
Effects of Massage on Reducing Headaches
If you’re struggling to find relief from migraines, you may be looking for alternative ways to kick the pain to the curb. A relaxing massage can help with headaches in many ways, and having a massage chair in your home makes it convenient to get relief whenever you need it.
But what are the benefits of massage therapy for migraines?
Here’s how massage can help reduce your headaches:
Eases Muscle Tension
Headaches and migraines are often the results of muscle tension in the neck, shoulders or back. Massage can help reduce that tension, which is the root cause of the headache.
Massage chair rollers can help stretch tense muscles and increase muscle elasticity to help alleviate and prevent tension that can lead to headaches.
Research has confirmed the tension-relieving effects of massage, which can help with headaches as well as muscle recovery.
Easing muscle tension can also help combat stress, which may contribute to migraines.
Improves Circulation
Massage can also help with headaches by improving circulation. Better blood flow means more oxygen is pushed through the body, which can alleviate pain and help with healing.
Research has shown that massage can help improve circulation, and these results can last for several days. Using a massage chair regularly can extend this effect and potentially keep headaches and migraines at bay.
Improved circulation has other beneficial effects that extend beyond headache relief. It can help:
- Support heart health
- Keep your brain sharp

Do your neck and shoulders hurt? Sitting at an office desk all day, texting or scrolling through social media and even sitting on the couch can cause neck and shoulder pain.
We’re going to help you find the perfect chair for shoulder pain – and neck pain.
But first, it’s essential to learn about:
- The benefits of massage
- How neck and shoulder massage chairs work
- Features to look for in your chair
The best shiatsu back, neck and shoulder massager with heat has a lot of great benefits. Let's see what they are.
The Benefits of a Neck & Shoulder Massage
There are many benefits to neck and shoulder massages, including:
Help with Tension and Pain
Many people carry tension in their neck, which can lead to pain and even reduced range of motion. Of course, it doesn’t help that most of us spend several hours a day staring at screens or looking down at our phones.
Tilting your head forward just 30 degrees puts 40 pounds of force on your neck. The more you tilt forward, the more pressure you put on your neck and shoulders.
A neck and shoulder massage can help alleviate tension and pain in these two key areas.
Improve Muscle Soreness
Massage can help improve blood flow and oxygen to painful areas, reducing discomfort and inflammation. It also helps release endorphins, which are your body’s natural painkillers.
And when your massage is complete, you may even notice an improved range of motion. Why? Because massage helps remove lactic acid build-up that can cause muscle stiffness.
Help with Headaches, Migraines and Eye Strain
Tension and stiffness in the neck and shoulders can lead to headaches, migraines and even eye strain.
Massaging tight and stiff muscles in the neck and shoulders can bring some relief. And those endorphins we talked about earlier can also help reduce pain.
Boost Your Mood
It’s no secret that a massage makes you feel good. When your body is relaxed, your mood naturally improves. If you experience any pain relief, you’re sure to feel even better.
When you need a natural pick-me-up, a neck and shoulder massage is a great solution.
How Do Neck & Shoulder Massage Chairs Work
A massage chair with neck massage functions works with rollers in the neck portion of the chair that will work their way up your neck to alleviate tension, stress and kinks in your neck. However, some chairs do use airbags for the lower portion of the neck and the shoulders.
If you have a heated chair, the neck and shoulder chair massage will work to alleviate muscle tension and tightness.
Features to Look for in A Neck & Shoulder Massage Chair
How do you know what’s the best massage chair for neck and shoulders? Review the chair’s features.
- Scanning: The most advanced chairs have scanning technology that scans your body to map out pressure points. While most massage chairs will provide a great neck and shoulder massage, body scanning will provide a truly customized massage.
- Neck/shoulder massager: A neck massage chair will have a headrest that allows you to melt into the chair and enjoy a great massage session. Since all chairs have headrests, you’ll want to look for models with rollers that extend to the neck or shoulders. If rollers aren’t present, see if there are airbags.
- Heat therapy: Sore and tight necks and shoulders are the bane of people worldwide. Everyone is looking up at a monitor during the day and down at a screen at night. Tight, sore necks and shoulders respond very well to heater chairs because heat will loosen up the tightness in these regions.
While it would be nice to have a neck and shoulder massage chair with all of these features, budget will play a significant role in your ability to purchase a chair.
If money is not a concern, you’ll find spectacular options in our catalog that will fit your needs.
However, we’ve done our best to list and review five of the best massage chairs for shoulders and necks below to fit any budget.

Final Thoughts
Your neck and shoulders are where most people hold all of their stress and tension. If you have headaches, your neck or shoulders hurt or you just want to spoil yourself, the best massage chair for neck and shoulders can help.
Plus, you can enjoy a massage in the comfort of your own home any time you want.
Massage chairs with zero gravity are some of the top-selling models in the world. Zero gravity allows users to receive a targeted massage with the pressure taken off of their necks and spines.
However, the best zero gravity massage chair has a lot of benefits that we’re going to discuss in great detail.
Before we go into our list of zero gravity massage chair benefits and reviews of the top three chairs on the market this year, it’s important to know what zero gravity really means.
What is a Zero Gravity Massage Chair?
Often referred to as an anti gravity massage chair, zero gravity chairs are specially designed massage chairs that put users into the zero gravity position.
What does this mean?
Users will sit in a neutral body position that was actually designed by NASA. The position allows for a condition of “weightlessness” that helps equalize your weight throughout your body. When weight is even, stress throughout the body is alleviated, especially in your:
- Neck
- Back
- Spine
Additionally, you’re put into a 120-degree angle position that puts your legs above your heart and allows for a position that relaxes the body and nervous system.
Add in a full body massage chair in zero gravity or a shiatsu massage chair in zero gravity, and you’ll massage away stress and tight muscles while relieving all of the stress and tension on your joints and spine.
But what does zero gravity really do? What benefits does it offer?
Let's find out.
Zero Gravity Massage Chairs’ Benefits
Improve Breathing
If you tend to fall asleep during your massage, it may lead to snoring. However, in the zero-gravity position, you’re able to keep your airways open, preventing:
- Snoring
- Sleep Apnea
Many people that sit in zero gravity note that they have an easier time breathing.
Reduce Pain
Sitting causes pain. It may be nice to kick your feet up after a long day of work and sit on the couch, but you may put excess stress on your back and neck. Zero gravity massage chairs will reduce pain naturally in a few ways:
- Massage is known for helping ease pain on its own. Tight and sore muscles are no match for a top-tier massage chair. As the tension and tightness are alleviated, it leads to lower pain.
- Zero gravity takes the pressure off of your neck and back, so your body can relax and heal. If you have pain in these two key areas, zero-G removes the stressors that cause more pain.
Alleviates Swelling
Swelling in the feet and legs is quite common. You may have swelling for numerous reasons, but the most common is poor circulation. Since you’re in the zero-gravity position, the fluid in your lower body can move through the body more easily.
Additionally, massage can get these fluids moving so that you can expel them from your body.
Helps With GERD and Acid Reflux
GERD, acid reflux and basic digestive issues are also alleviated when you lay back on the best zero gravity massage chair. The position helps stop acid from bubbling up in your esophagus thanks to gravity.
Many users fall asleep in their chairs after meals without experiencing any acid reflux episodes.
Improve Circulation
When you lay back in zero-G, you’re also reducing the pressure on your heart. The key is in the position of your feet being higher than your heart. The position promotes circulation, so not only does your body get to relax, but your heart can also relax.
Promotes Relaxation and Stress Relief
Why are you looking for a massage in the first place? If you’re like most people, life has left you stressed and unable to relax. A zero gravity massage chair allows you to relax and reduces stress while you’re “floating.”
The body can:
- Relax in zero gravity
- Massage works out the stress in your body
If you have a lot of stress and tension, it may be time to consider a zero gravity massage chair. The following are three chairs that offer exceptional massages with top-tier features and zero gravity options.

When comparing massage chairs, you’ll find that some models are S-track, some are L-track, and others are both S-track and L-track. But what exactly does that mean? What are the pros and cons of S track vs L track massage chairs?
Let’s take a closer look at what roller tracks are, the difference between S- and L-tracks and which one is the right fit for you.
What are Roller Tracks?
When you sit down in a massage chair and start a session, you’ll notice that the rollers move along a particular path (usually, up and down the spine). That path is the roller track. It guides the rollers along certain key areas of the body to help massage away tension.
Roller tracks also allow the rollers to move side to side and in and out to mimic the movements of a massage therapist.
There are two main types of roller tracks used in today’s massage chairs:
- S-track
- L-track
The primary difference between the two is the length, but there are other things to consider when comparing both types of tracks.
Let’s compare a massage chair S track vs L track to help you understand the pros and cons of each one.
S-Track Massage Chairs
Many modern massage chairs are S-track massage chairs. They’re designed to target tension and stress in the back, shoulders and neck. The S-track is the standard track that you’ll find with most massage chair models.
What is an S-Track?
The term “S-track” refers to the shape of the track. It follows the natural, gentle S-curve shape of the spine.
The track runs from the neck down to the lower back to deliver a thorough massage.
S-Track Pros & Cons
S-track massage chairs have many advantages, but there are a few drawbacks that you need to consider.
Pros
- Eases tension in the neck and back
- Targets the entire back as well as the shoulders and neck
S-track massage chairs are ideal for people who carry tension in their upper back, shoulders or neck. This type of massage track focuses heavily on these areas, which can help you work out tough knots that are hard to reach otherwise.
Cons
- The lower back doesn’t get as much attention
- The track doesn’t go beyond the lower back
If you suffer from lower back pain, you may find that an S-track massage chair doesn’t provide complete relief. The track may not reach far enough to target all of the
L-Track Massage Chairs
L-track massage chairs are more advanced and offer a deeper, more thorough massage. Designed to target more areas of tension, L-track massage chairs typically have features and technologies that create a more immersive massage experience.
What is an L-Track?
An L-track is very similar to an S-track, but it extends further down the spine and under the bottom. The track creates an L-shape – hence, the name.
L-Track Pros & Cons
L-track massage chairs offer many benefits, but there are some potential downsides you should consider.
Pros
- Longer reach targets more muscles for a more thorough massage
- L-track rollers can also stretch muscles
The L-track's ability to reach the lower back and the buttock makes it an excellent choice for people who have lower back tension and pain like sciatica. Because the track runs from the top of the head all the way down to the hamstrings, these chairs create a full-body massage experience.
Cons
- L-track may not be ideal for those who have upper back pain or neck tension
- The cost is typically higher for an L-track massage chair
Because the track is longer, L-track massage chairs may not focus as much attention on the upper back and neck. While L-track chairs typically come at a higher cost, they offer more functionality and can target more areas of the back.
So, What Should I Choose: S-Track or L-Track Massage Chair?
Which is the better option: L track or S track massage chair? The answer really depends on your personal preferences. Some chairs, like our Super Novo, have both an S-track and an L-track function, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds.
Consider your needs and your goals for your massage chair.
- What are your problem areas?
- What kind of massage experience do you want?
Depending on your answers to these questions, you may find that an S- or L-track is better suited to your needs. For example, if you suffer from sciatica, an L-track chair may be the better option.
If your budget allows, consider a chair with an S/L track so that you don’t have to choose.
Regardless of your decision, a massage chair is a smart investment in your health and wellness. The relaxation and stress-busting effects are priceless, and both types of massage tracks will deliver a thorough massage to eliminate knots and kinks.
Massage therapy offers a wealth of health and wellness benefits for older adults. However, booking regular massages with a professional masseuse can be costly and difficult to coordinate. A massage chair allows older adults to enjoy the benefits of a massage anytime they want from the comfort of home.
But how do you find the right chair? We’re going to share the best therapeutic chairs for elderly users and uncover the benefits of having a massage chair at home.
Health Benefits of Massage Chairs for Seniors
Massage is a natural, simple and drug-free way to help reduce pain, alleviate tension, improve circulation and more. A massage chair is an investment in your wellness and can help improve your quality of life.
Let’s look at some of the many health benefits of massage chairs for seniors.
Better Circulation
Massage can help improve circulation, which is crucial for overall health and well-being. Proper circulation ensures that blood and oxygen reach every organ for optimal functioning.
Good circulation keeps your heart healthy, speeds up healing and keeps your brain sharp. But as we age, it becomes more challenging to maintain proper blood flow. Having a massage chair at home means that seniors can reap the circulation-improving benefits of a massage anytime they wish.
Less Pain
One great benefit of massage is that it can help with pain. Many older adults suffer from pain, particularly arthritic pain. While massage won’t cure this pain, it can certainly help reduce it. Increased blood flow to affected areas can help reduce the inflammation and burning that lead to discomfort and pain.
A back massager for elderly users can also help with lower back pain.
Seniors who suffer from osteoarthritis will find that regular sessions in a massage chair can help reduce stiffness and pain. In addition, some experience improved mobility over time.
Less Stress
Many older adults suffer from stress. Over time, chronic stress can lead to depression, anxiety, chronic illness, gastrointestinal issues, muscle tension, migraines, high blood pressure and more.
Massage chairs help ease muscle tension and help the body relax to alleviate stress. At the same time, it also helps the body release endorphins, neurotransmitters and hormones that uplift your mood and make you feel good.
Improved Sleep
Up to half of older adults have difficulty getting to sleep and staying asleep. Poor quality sleep can lead to weight gain, depression, a higher risk of diabetes and other chronic health issues.
A therapeutic massage can help you get into a deep state of relaxation, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.

Choosing the Perfect Massage Chair for a Senior
Now that you understand the benefits of massage chairs and know some of the top chairs for seniors, you may be wondering: How do I choose one?
Finding the right relaxing chair for old person doesn’t have to be complicated. Here are some points to consider.
Massage Intensity
When choosing a massage chair for an older adult, one of the first things to consider is the massage intensity. Some chairs deliver a more rigorous massage than others. Those with more sensitive muscles and joints may prefer chairs that offer a gentler experience.
On the other hand, some older adults prefer a more intense massage to help with pain and severe muscle tension.
Choose a suitable intensity level to match the senior’s comfort level and preference.
Chair Size
The size of the chair is another important consideration. Consider where the chair will be placed and the size of the space. Massage chairs come in a wide range of sizes, including compact models that are ideal for smaller rooms.
Built-in Programs
Many massage chairs have built-in programs, like Sleep or Relax. These programs offer targeted benefits and make it easier for older adults to enjoy the experience they want. While automatic programs aren’t necessary, they may be preferred by seniors who want a simple, one-touch massage experience.
Leg and Calf Massager
For seniors with circulation issues and swelling in the feet and legs, a chair with a leg and calf massager may be a great investment. These chairs offer a full-body massage experience while bringing some much-needed relief from pain and swelling.
Zero Gravity
When choosing a massage chair for a senior, another important thing to consider is whether the chair can move into the zero gravity position.
Zero gravity can be beneficial for older adults. The position minimizes the impact of gravity on the body and helps decompress the spine. In addition, seniors who have issues with herniated discs or back pain may find that zero gravity brings some relief.
Heat
Many massage chairs also have lumbar heating to help ease muscle tension and stress. For older adults with stiff and aching muscles and joints, heat can bring relief from discomfort and pain.
When choosing a massage chair for an older adult, these are some of the most important features to consider. Of course, your budget will also be a consideration. However, it’s important to remember that a massage chair is an investment in your health and wellness. For older adults dealing with pain, tension and stress, it’s worth the cost of choosing a quality chair that offers all of the features they desire.
Dangers of Using Massage Chairs for Seniors
It’s easy to assume that massage chairs are safe for all seniors. While most can benefit from having their own massage chair, there are some older adults who should avoid them or only choose chairs with gentle settings.
- Seniors with muscle sprains, bruises and fractures should avoid using massage chairs. The massage rollers and vibrations can cause pain, additional bruising and inflammation.
- Older adults with osteoarthritis should be cautious when using massage chairs. High intensity settings may damage the spine.
- Seniors with a history of blood clots should talk to their doctors before using massage chairs.
- Those who are on blood thinners should stick to gentle massage settings. Intense massages can cause bleeding and bruising.
Can Insurance Cover a Massage Chair?
If massage chairs offer therapeutic benefits, can they be covered by insurance? Many older adults ask this question. Most are purchasing a massage chair to help alleviate pain or to support treatment for a medical condition. Can insurance help cover the cost of this investment?
Unfortunately, insurance companies typically do not cover the cost of a massage chair. Massage chairs do not have a DME or insurance medical code, so they aren’t covered by most policies.
That being said, it doesn’t hurt to contact your insurance company for clarification. Every policy and insurance company is different. While it’s not common for massage chairs to be covered, your policy may be the exception.
Final Thoughts
A massage chair can be a great investment for older adults. Along with relaxation and stress relief, the right chair may also help with pain, circulation and sleep quality. Review the chairs listed above to find one that’s ideal for the older adult in your life.
If you suffer from plantar fasciitis, you know how difficult it can be to get through the morning or day. Pain medication can help, but you may be looking for a more natural way to manage the pain and discomfort. There are many natural solutions, but massage is a popular choice. Does massage help with plantar fasciitis?
We're going to explore how massage can help with this condition and share some tips for effective at-home massages.
What is Plantar Fasciitis? How Does it Cause Foot Pain?
Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel pain. It’s caused by inflammation of the band of tissue (known as the fascia) that runs from the heel to the toes.
The fascia does a few things. It absorbs shock when you’re walking, and it also supports the arch of your foot. Over time, stress and tension on this band of tissue can cause small tears. Stretching and tearing eventually lead to inflammation and irritation.
Signs and Symptoms
A telltale sign of this condition is a stabbing pain when you take your first steps in the morning. Once you get up and start moving around, the pain subsides, but it may return after standing for long periods of time.
Doctors are still unsure of what causes plantar fasciitis. However, it is more common among runners and those who are overweight.
Is Massage Good for Plantar Fasciitis?
Treating plantar fasciitis can be difficult, but massage therapy can help. In fact, massage has been shown to help break down scar tissue, improve lymphatic circulation and increase blood flow.
In 85% of trials that used massage therapy to treat plantar fasciitis, pain was reduced and mobility was improved. Another case study found that getting a massage twice a week significantly decreased pain and improved mobility in those with plantar fasciitis. Massage was so effective that even physically taxing activities caused very little or no pain.
The Benefits of a Plantar Fasciitis Massage
There are many benefits to plantar fasciitis massages:
- Helps Ease Tension: A deep massage can help ease tension and promote relaxation.
- Can Help Improve Blood Flow: Regular massages can help improve circulation in the feet. The squeezing, twisting and pulling action eliminates lactic acid and increases lymph fluid circulation.
- Helps Ease Stress: Massages can help lower cortisol levels, allowing your body to relax and start healing.
Many people find that plantar fasciitis massage treatment is all they need to find relief.
Risks and Precautions
The great thing about massage therapy is that there are very few risks and precautions. Here are a few things to consider:
- Avoid deep tissue massages if you have open wounds on your feet, osteoporosis or known blood clots.
- Avoid cross fiber massages if you have inflamed tissue, hematomas, vascular issues or trauma in the area.
- Avoid hot stone massages if you have open wounds, recently had surgery or have an acute injury.
In general, it’s best to err on the side of caution and perform gentle massages.
How To Do A Plantar Fasciitis Relief Massage At Home
You don’t have to spend a fortune on professional massage therapy to get relief from plantar fasciitis. We’re going to share some tips and techniques for foot pain massages that anyone can do at home.
Push Massage
A push massage is a simple technique that you can use to alleviate tension in your feet.
- Find a comfortable place to sit down.
- Cross one leg over the other.
- Gently use your thumbs to push along the sole of your foot. Push forward from your heel to your toes, and then move back down again.
- Repeat this movement for about 2-5 minutes.
- Repeat on the other foot.
If you want a more intense massage, apply more pressure with your thumbs. Don’t overdo it, especially if the tissue is inflamed.
Pull Massage
A pull massage is similar to a push massage, but you’re moving outward instead of up and down.
- Sit down on the edge of the bed or on a chair.
- Cross one leg over the other.
- Place both thumbs at the center of your foot.
- Pull one thumb towards the left side of your foot and at the same time, use your other thumb to pull towards the right side of your foot.
- Repeat for 2-5 minutes, moving along the entire surface of the foot.
Start out with gentle pressure and increase the intensity gradually if you need greater relief.
Ball Massager
Use a ball massager, dryer ball or a tennis ball for this technique. It’s a simple practice, but it’s surprisingly effective.
- Sit down on a chair or the edge of a bed.
- Place a ball under the arch of your foot.
- Use your bodyweight to put some pressure on the ball.
- Slowly, roll the ball down and up the foot, and then side to side.
- Continue rolling for as long as you like, and repeat on the other foot.
Start with gentle pressure and increase the intensity gradually. Stop if the massage becomes painful.
